Why shoot Písek?

Písek is a small medieval town on the Vltava river in South Bohemia, about 100 kilometres south of Prague. The Stone Bridge, built around 1265, is the oldest stone bridge in Czechia and predates Charles Bridge in Prague. The arcaded Velké náměstí (main square) opens onto Renaissance and Baroque facades, and the Gothic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary anchors the historic core within a 10-minute walk.

Písek works best as a paired stop with Český Krumlov on a full day from Prague. We typically photograph the Stone Bridge from the riverbank, work the arcaded square and the Gothic church spire, and continue south to Český Krumlov for the afternoon. The drive from Prague to Písek is about 1.5 hours by car. Beginners leave with a sharper eye and confident use of aperture priority. Pros leave with compositions they wouldn't have found alone.

The frames you'll typically take home include the medieval Stone Bridge over the Vltava, the arcaded Velké náměstí from the perimeter, the Gothic church spire from across the river, and the riverbanks of the Vltava through the historic core. We adapt the route to the season and the subjects you like to shoot.
