How I Work With You
Every photographer sees the world differently. My role is not to impose a style, but to help you see more clearly, simplify composition, and make stronger creative decisions.
Light and timing
I plan tours around blue hour, golden hour, and the overcast or moody windows when each spot actually looks its best. The same Charles Bridge that's flat at noon becomes a hero shot at 6:42 AM.
One strong frame over fifty random ones
I'll point you to the viewpoint a tourist walks past, then help you simplify the composition: clean foreground, leading lines, layering depth, until the frame is print-worthy.
Quiet, practical guidance
No technical lectures. Small adjustments to settings, framing, and timing. The kind of thing you'll keep using long after the tour.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, the tour adapts to your pace, interests, and skill level.
A Bit About Me
I'm Jan. Johnny is what my friends call me. Born and raised in Prague, I've been a working travel photographer for 16+ years and guiding photo tours here for over a decade. My photographs have made the cover of National Geographic Traveller (twice) and Lonely Planet guidebooks (twice), with editorial work in Wanderlust and other international titles.
I originally trained as an IT engineer. Photography and travel gradually took over. First as a passion, then as a profession. That path lets me do work I genuinely enjoy, guide people from all over the world, and still keep a healthy balance with family life. I approach guiding the same way: professional, thoughtful, and human.
Beyond Prague, I lead photo expeditions abroad through Matkali, my Czech expedition company. Current itineraries: Peru, Iceland, Oman, and Chile. Past trips include the US Southwest, Alaska, Myanmar, Georgia, and Patagonia. These expeditions keep my eye fresh and feed back into how I see Prague.
