Why shoot Holašovice?

Holašovice is a UNESCO village in South Bohemia, about 200 kilometres south of Prague. Twenty-three thatch and tile-roofed farmsteads in pastel-painted Folk Baroque (selský baroko) line a single elongated green, with a small chapel and pond at the eastern end. The compactness of the village means a single golden hour gives you the gables, the green, and the pond reflections from one walk.

On a Holašovice photo tour with me, you'll work the painted gables along the green at first light or golden hour, catch the chapel and pond reflection at the eastern end, and frame the long green from a low angle. We typically pair Holašovice with Český Krumlov for a full day from Prague, with the drive by car (~2.5 hours each way). Beginners leave with a sharper eye and confident use of aperture priority. Pros leave with compositions they wouldn't have found alone.

What you'll photograph

The frames you'll typically take home include the pastel Folk Baroque facades and gables along the green at golden hour, the chapel and pond reflections at first light, the long village green from a low angle, and the thatch and tile rooflines under low side light. We adapt the route to the season and the subjects you like to shoot.
