Why shoot Nuremberg?

Nuremberg keeps an intact medieval old town inside its sandstone walls, with the Kaiserburg fortress overlooking the rooftops and the Pegnitz river curving through the center. Half-timbered streets like Weissgerbergasse, the Frauenkirche on Hauptmarkt, and the covered Henkersteg bridge over the river give you the kind of fairy-tale Bavarian compositions that survived the war by reconstruction.

On a Nuremberg photo tour with me, you'll work the castle panorama at golden hour, catch Henkersteg and the river reflections through blue hour, and find the half-timbered side streets and inner courtyards most visitors walk past. We mostly walk between locations, with Uber rides for any longer transfers, so you'll never have to rush. Beginners leave with a sharper eye and confident use of aperture priority. Pros leave with compositions they wouldn't have found alone.

What you'll photograph

The frames you'll typically take home include the Kaiserburg fortress at sunset from the lower town, Henkersteg bridge reflected in the Pegnitz at blue hour, Hauptmarkt with the Frauenkirche and the Schöner Brunnen, the half-timbered Weissgerbergasse, and the medieval walls from outside. We adapt the route to the weather and the subjects you like to shoot.

On the phototour he actively helped me to replicate the photos he made. That my camera is of a different make than his own makes no difference to him.

He had a similar camera and not only taught me a LOT about my Sony a 7 R II and quick ways to check focus, level lines, etc., he let me try out one of his lenses.
