Why shoot Karlovy Vary?

Karlovy Vary is a long, narrow spa town pressed into a forested valley along the Teplá river. The neo-Renaissance and Art Nouveau spa colonnades, the painted facades of the grand hotels, and the dense color of the surrounding hillsides give you a different visual register than any other Central European city. The valley shape concentrates the light: warm tones on the eastern facades at sunrise, dramatic side-light on the western buildings at sunset.

On a Karlovy Vary photo tour with me, you'll work the Mlýnská colonnade interior in soft daylight, catch the Hot Spring colonnade and the Pupp facade at golden hour, and ride up to Diana lookout for the panoramic valley view. We mostly walk between locations, with Uber rides for any longer transfers, so you'll never have to rush. Beginners leave with a sharper eye and confident use of aperture priority. Pros leave with compositions they wouldn't have found alone.

The frames you'll typically take home include the Mlýnská colonnade interior and exterior, the Pupp facade and other grand hotels at golden hour, the painted bourgeois facades along the river, the Diana lookout panorama down onto the spa quarter, and the side streets and bridges at blue hour. We adapt the route to the season and the subjects you like to shoot.
